Some top tips to get a good night´s sleep

  • Avoid nicotine, alcohol, caffeine and eating for at least two hours before going to bed.
  • Try to take at least 20 minutes exercise each day. This doesn´t have to involve a trip to the gym or an exercise class.  Simply a brisk walk in the fresh air will help ideally several hours before you go to bed.
  • Clear out the clutter from your bedroom and remove the TV. Your bed should be for two activities only - sleep and sex!
  • Turn the TV off at least an hour before you go to bed. You may think that television relaxes you. It is actually a stimulant and leads to your mind racing as you get into bed.
  • Try reading a book, taking a warm bath or listening to some soft relaxing music.
  • If you are unable to fall sleep, get up after 20 minutes of trying and go and do something else instead. By lying in bed tossing and turning, you simply end up more and more stressed and frustrated about not being able to sleep.
